Sibley once had a Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway (Omaha Road) mainline and a pair of Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad (Rock Island) secondary lines. Today, the former Omaha Road is operated by Union Pacific Railroad, while the former Rock Island lines have been abandoned. A portion of the former Rock Island heading east from the town has been reused as part of a recreational trail.
