Marshland once had a Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) mainline, a Green Bay & Western Railroad (GB&W) mainline and a Chicago & North Western Railway (C&NW) mainline. Today, the former CB&Q is owned by BNSF Railway, the former GB&W is owned by Canadian National Railway, and the former C&NW line has been reused as the Great River State Trail.
