Lyle once had three railroads running through it, including a Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway (Milwaukee Road) mainline, a Chicago Great Western Railway mainline, and an Illinois Central Railroad branch line. Today, the Milwaukee Road is operated by CPKC, while the IC is operated by Canadian National Railway. The CGW has been abandoned.
