Luverne once had three railroads, including two branch lines of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway (Omaha Road), and a branch line of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad. Today, the Omaha Road is operated by Ellis & Eastern Railroad, and the branch line to Doon has been long abandoned. The Rock Island is also abandoned.
