Holmen once had a Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) mainline and a Chicago & North Western Railway (C&NW) mainline. Today, the former CB&Q is owned by BNSF Railway, while the C&NW line has been reused as the Great River State Trail.
