Fairchild once had a Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway (Omaha Road) mainline and an Omaha Road branch line. Today, the mainline is owned by Union Pacific Railroad, while the branch line is part of the Buffalo River State Park Trail. This town extends into both Eau Claire and Jackson Counties.
