Estherville once had a pair of Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad (Rock Island) secondary lines and a Minneapolis & St. Louis Railway (M&StL) branch line. Today, the former Rock Island lines are owned by Union Pacific Railroad, while the former M&StL has been abandoned.
