Dubuque once had a number of railroad lines operating within the city, including mainlines of the Illinois Central Railroad (IC), the Chicago Great Western Railway (CGW) and the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road). Today, Canadian National Railway owns the former IC, CPKC owns the former Milwaukee Road, and the CGW has been abandoned.
