Amherst Junction once had a Wisconsin Central Railway (WC) mainline and a Green Bay & Western Railroad (GB&W) mainline. Today, the WC is owned by Canadian National Railway, while portions of the former GB&W is part of the Tomorrow River State Trail. A small segment of the former GB&W remains in use by Canadian National Railway as an industrial spur.
