Storm Lake once had an Illinois Central Railroad (IC) mainline, a Minneapolis & St. Louis Railway (M&StL) branch line and a Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road) branch line. Today, the former IC is operated by Canadian National Railway, while the other lines have been abandoned.
