Monroe County is located in central Wisconsin. It was named for James Monroe, a US President.
The seat and largest city is Sparta.
It borders Jackson, Juneau, Vernon and La Crosse Counties.
Main highways include I-90, I-94, US-12, WI-21, WI-16, WI-71 and WI-27.
