Sparta, Wisconsin

Sparta was a major junction point for the Chicago & North Western, about 30 miles east of La Crosse.
The C&NW had two lines. One went between La Crosse and Tomah, while the other dropped south from Sparta. The C&NW bridges on the Elroy-Sparta Trail are numbered from west to east.
The line from La Crosse to Sparta, and the line south of Sparta are now both trails. The other portion is abandoned.

In addition, the Milwaukee Road mainline went through the town. It is now Canadian Pacific.
