North Lawndale is a community area in Chicago, located on the west side of the city. The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) operated a mainline along the south border of the community, the Illinois Central Railroad (IC) operated on the north side of the community, and the Belt Railway of Chicago (BRC) operated along the western border of the community. In addition, the "L", an elevated rapid transit line, operated lines through the area. Today, the CB&Q is owned by BNSF Railway; the IC is owned by Canadian National Railway and the BRC continues to operate independently. The CTA "L" continues to operate the Pink Line in the area.
