Englewood is a community area in Chicago, located on the southwest side of the city. The Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway (Rock Island)/New York Central Railroad operated a mainline along the eastern border of the community. In addition, the Chicago & Western Indiana Railway (C&WI) and the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) both operated tracks and facilities in the area. Today, Metra owns the former Rock Island and C&WI, while Norfolk Southern Railway owns the former PRR. The PRR Englewood Connector has since been abandoned. In addition, the CTA "L" operates the Green Line through the community.
