Forreston is a rural town in Ogle County.
The main attraction of the city was the crossing of two main lines. An east/west Milwaukee Road mainline connected Chicago to Iowa.
In addition, the North/South Illinois Central line transversed Illinois.
Today, the Milwaukee Road line exists as a Canadian Pacific Mainline (DM&E) while the Illinois Central is abandoned.
