Sterling, Illinois

Sterling had two railroads. An East/West Chicago & North Western mainline connected Iowa with Chicago, while a north/south Chicago, Burlington & Quincy branch line connected to Aurora.
The C&NW has since become the Union Pacific, while the CB&Q has been abandoned.

Sterling also seated on the Rock River, across from Rock Falls, its twin city. Both towns have become major economic hubs over the years.
