Pontiac once had a number of railroads, including routes of the Chicago & Alton as well as the Wabash.
Today, the Wabash is abandoned, while the C&A branch is also abandoned. The C&A main line is now owned by Union Pacific.
In addition, an interurban once existed through the town, and some remains continue to exist.
