Ottawa is a moderately sized town, located on the Illinois and Fox Rivers in north central Illinois.
The town had three railroads serving it. The Rock Island had a mainline between Iowa and Chicago. This line is now a CSX mainline.
The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy had a line from Aurora to Streator, now Illinois Railway.
In addition, the Chicago, Ottawa & Peoria had an interurban line along the Illinois River, now mostly removed.
