Griggs County is located in East Central North Dakota. It is named for Alexander Griggs, founder of Grand Forks.
The seat and largest city are Cooperstown. The Sheyenne River runs through the county.
Griggs County borders Nelson, Steele, Barnes, Stutsman, Foster and Eddy Counties.
Main highways through the county include ND-1, ND-45, ND-35 and ND-200.
