Colona, Illinois

Colona had two railroads. An East/West Rock Island mainline connected Iowa with Chicago, while a north/south Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Mainline connected Galesburg to the CB&Q line north of Colona.

Colona is also seated on the Rock River, Green River and Hennepin Canal, which made the city important. Both railroads still exist, as Iowa Interstate and BNSF, respectively.
