Carlton, Minnesota

Carlton is a decent sized town in Carlton County, and is the county seat. It once contained the Northern Pacific lines between St. Paul and Duluth, Fargo and Duluth, Carlton and Cloquet along with the Great Northern Line from Grand Forks to Superior.

Today, the GN line is fully intact, along with the NP line west to Fargo. The rest is abandoned or trails. The area is most famous for Jay Cooke State Park.
