Located on the banks of the Rock River, the city of Byron is another significant town in the Rock River Valley.
The city had two railroads. An East/West Milwaukee Road line provided a connection from Chicago to Iowa and Minnesota. This is now a Canadian Pacific (DM&E) Mainline.
In addition, The Chicago Great Western came through the town. This line is mostly abandoned, except a spur to the Byron Nuclear Powerplant.
