Allamakee County, Iowa

Allamakee County is the very northeast county of Iowa. The origin of its name is a debate among historians, although it is likely a Native American Chief.
The seat and largest city is Waukon. The area noted for its massive bluffs alongside the Mississippi River.
US-18, US-52, IA-9, IA-26 and IA-76 are the main roads through the county.
It is bordered by Clayton, Winneshiek and Fayette Counties in Iowa, Vernon and Crawford Counties in Wisconsin, and Houston County in Minnesota.
